Q: Is Swayamsiddh an international organisation?
A: No. Swayamsiddh is an association formed by mother parents of children with Mental Retardation in Aurangabad, India. At present funds are primarily utilised to benefit children with special needs at Swayamsiddh only.

Q: What is the mission of Swayamsiddh?
A: Empowerment of children with special needs is the prime mission so that they too can join the mainstream of life and live like others.

A: Yes. MAHA / 17 / 2001 Dated 16.01.2001 under Societies Registration Act, 1860. F - 6664 (AU) Dated 13.08.2001 under Mumbai Public Trust Act 1950.

Q: Are you affiliated to any other organisation?
A: Yes. We are affiliated to
  • PARIVAAR - National Federation of Parents Associations. President of Swayamsiddh is one of the members of Maharashtra State Co-ordination Committee (MSCOCO) formed by PARIVAAR.
  • NIMH - National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, Secundarabad.
Q: Who are the members of the board of trustees?
A: Mother parents of children with special needs at Swayamsiddh are on the board.

Q: Where do the children come from that live in your facility?
A: Children at Swayamsiddh are from Aurangabad city as well as the cities near by.

Q: What kind of special needs do these children come under?
A: OT, PT, ST, SE, PC, NT.

Q: What are the ages of the children?
A: Swayamsiddh welcomes the children of age group from 3 to 18 years old.

Q: What kinds of facilities are available for the children?
A: All the therapies like Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy etc. are provided under one roof of Swayamsiddh. Also, they are given vocational training thereby preparing them to be independent.

Q: What happens to children once they finish their curriculum in the special school?
A: Once the school training is over, child is sent back to his or her house. However, Swayamsiddh encourages these children to be independent and to earn money through the shows and selling of products like candle, handicraft etc. made by them.

Q: Does the organization receive any government funding?
A: Swayamsiddh is a Non-government organisation. We do not receive any direct government funding, though the government has extended certain tax and duty exemptions to us.

Q: How are resources used?
A: Major portion of donation is utilised for construction of a Special School for the children at Swayamsiddh and the rest is utilised towards regular administrative expenditure.

Q: Are the people working in the organization are paid for their work?
A: Swayamsiddh is run by parents of the children with special needs. They work full time in the school. The staff members are paid a nominal salary.

A: Sure it will! No matter how small or big contribution, when put together it adds up to a lot and makes a huge difference!
